Are Tim Ferriss and Jason F. right when they strongly advocate remote work? You might be surprised to hear that I happily worked from home offices ever since I left BigLaw and BigCorp 10 years ago.
Whenever clients wanted to see me in person I travelled to meet them somewhere. We started a law company without traditional offices, grew a nice business and finally sold it.
It was so much more fun and more productive to meet in places like Barcelona, Helsinki or various cities in Germany.
Never missed the traditional office. Never needed it.
Many people joked at us. Some dinos even did for many years.
So now Corona came and has changed the world. I have spent the last 6 months talking to lawyers both in law firms and in-house. Nearly all of them said they can do their job fully remotely. Only exception: court hearings (which still have to be in person in Germany) and appointments at the notary (same here).
Where do YOU want to go? In his recent article Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic gives us pyschological insights why returning to the old normal is just not an option.
